- The prayer to God Almighty must be said in the name of or through Jesus Christ “… whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He may give it you”. (John 15:16; see also 14:13; Heb. 13:15, 1 Pet. 25; 4:11 etc.) “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” – Eph. 5:20.
- Pray in faith. “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (Matt. 21:22) “Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:24) see also James 1:6,7; 5:15. etc.
- Pray in sincerity and in truth. “But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul” (Deut. 4:29, see also Josh 24:14; Psa. 145:18; Jer. 29:13) “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” -John 4:23.
- Pray in righteousness. “The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.” (Prov. 15:29, see also Job 8:5,6; Psa. 34:15, etc) “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” (1 Pet312) “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.”-1 John 3:22; see also James 5:16-18.
- Pray in humility and patience. “… He (God) forgetheth not the cry of the humble” (Psa. 9:12; see also 2 Chron. 33:12, 13 etc.) “I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.” (Pa 40:1) “Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” – Luke 18:10-14.
