“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4
Comment: The feeling or expression of sorrow or grief by mankind is the consequence of disobeying God’s words, the Truth. Pronouncing punishment to Adam, God said, “….cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. (Genesis 3:17-19). This scenario of mourning was discerned by the devil as part of his rebellion against God to place man under bondage of sin, iniquity and death. But how foolish and wicked is he? What a shame? For he will never succeed by God’s grace and power.
Today, Mankind has continued to mourn in distress, sorrows, pains, and death as we were shapen in iniquity and conceived in sin. – Psalm 51:5
The advent of Jesus Christ, therefore, is a show of God’s infinite love and mercy to enable mourning mankind to realize that they can be comforted if they exercise implicit faith in Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. – John 3:16-17
Faith, acceptance, and love of the truth together with the realization and repentance of one’s sins paves way for reconciliation with God through the life or blood of Jesus Christ shed for the remission of sin and death. – Luke 24:47; 2 Cor.5:17-21; 7:9,10; Hebrews 2:9,14,15; etc.
All God’s children who mourn will surely be comforted when sin and its consequences which includes death shall be eliminated in the Kingdom of God fully established in the world without end. – Isaiah 45:17; Dan.12:1-3; 1 Corinth.15:24-28, 51-58; etc.
Prayer: God our Father in heaven help us to continue to realise our faults, repent of them and reconcile with Thee so as to be comforted when God’s Kingdom is fully established in the world without end through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
