“But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.” – Daniel 10:13
Comment: Michael is a Hebrew name as well as a Greek name which means “Who is like God” or “Who is the image of God”. It is one of the names and titles of Jesus Christ
Understanding of the Holy Scriptures indicates that Jesus Christ who in his pre-human days was an angel of God’s presence is Michael, the express image of his Father.(Isaiah 63:9; Hebrews 1:1-3; John 14:9). And also the chief of the angels or messagers of God. He appeared unto Abraham as an Angel of the LORD with two other angels God sent to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. – Genesis 18
Concerning Jesus Christ our Lord as angel, the Psalmist wrote, “The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.” (Psalm 68:17). Jesus Christ was the one Daniel called Michael, the chief of the princes in Daniel 10:13 and Michael the prince in Daniel 10:21. St. Jude called him Michael the archangel in Jude 9.
The revelation to Apostle John in the Island of Patmos about the coronation of Jesus Christ corroborated by the prophecy in Daniel 7:13,14 & Psalm 110:2, including the resistance of Satan, the devil resulting in war in heaven, his defeat and demotion to the earth in Revelation 12:1-12 confirm the fact that Jesus Christ is Michael.
Then in prophecy about the deliverance of God’s people by Jesus Christ at the great tribulation, Daniel stated, “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” – Daniel 12:1
Prayer: Thank You our Father who art in heaven. The God of gods and the LORD of lords for Thy lovingkindness towards Your children. We seek Your help that we constantly appreciate Thee for sending our Lord Jesus Christ to show the way of truth and give deliverance to all Your children by Thy grace and power through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Happy Freedom Day!
