“Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired.” – Zephaniah 2:1
Comment: One of the ways the devil is using to enslave the world is creating difficulties in men’s day to day endeavours so that things we ought to do are left undone while we do things we ought not to do. This is done by him to distract man from fulfilling the purpose for which God created him. To worship and make God Almighty our creator to rejoice and to provide for us all our requirements in accordance to His riches in glory; we are the sheep of His pasture. – Psalm 100:3.
To this cause, Jesus Christ stated, “…Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor ye for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment. Behold the fowls of the air: they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are you not better than they?…. Therefore, take no thought, or say what we shall eat? Or What we shall drink? Or wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that you have need of all these things. Then he said further, “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added into you.”(Matthew 6:24-33). That is to say obedience to God’s divine instructions comes first before any thing else of the day’s activities.
So, we should not allow carnal things to stop us from gathering ourselves together. More especially when we know that our faith, hope, love and obedience of God’s word will move us to higher levels of better living by God’s grace and power by hearing and doing His words of truth. Thereby, working out our own salvation. – Romans 8:35-39; 10:17; 1 Cor.13; Phil.2:12
The call therefore, is that every honest effort must be made by Christians not to forsake the gathering of God’s people in this perilous times for God’s protection and deliverance. – Hebrews 10:25; Zephaniah 2:1-3; see Zeph.1:14-18; 2 Timothy 3:1-5; etc.
Carnal or human considerations should never come first. Let our mentality align with that of God’s will and not of the world. Carnal mindedness leads to death but spiritual mindedness gives life. – Romans 8:5-7.
Prayer: O LORD GOD our Father in heaven, remove from me the spirit of forsaking the assembling of ourselves together and put a renewed and right spirit in me so that my faith, hope and love may multiply thro’ your word to please You for protection, blessings and deliverance by Your grace and power through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
