THANKSGIVING
“And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small” Jeremiah 30:19
Comments: To be thankful, you must have a good memory. You must know how to remember and call to mind all the marvelous things God had done, is doing, and has promised to do for you. Therefore, a thankless person can be easily said to have spiritual amnesia. Another reason why some people don’t get to praise God is because they take things for granted a lot. When you view all of God’s gifts, blessings, favours and deliverances as ordinary, then you will take them for granted. The result will be thanklessness and a praiseless existence before God.
The sweet Psalmist admonished in Psalm 103:1-2 “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits”. And the benefits were listed from the third verse all the way to the last verse.
As the year in coming to an end, chances may be that you will so quickly forget all that God had done for you but get upset for all the things you are yet to accomplish. But the truth is that the things He has done far out weights the ones He is yet to do, why not praise Him. Remember, if you praise God for the little, He does for you, you will see many more. It is popularly said that “appreciation for one is an application for more” if you praise Him for His hand, He will show you His outstretched arms.
So, think, remember, and count your blessings. Be thankful to Him and praise Him for all His goodness to you. If you do this, our text reveals that God will multiply you and you will not be few, and you will not be small.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please fill my heart with gratitude, and take away from me all forms of murmuring, complains and ingratitude. Help me to praise you always for your goodness in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
