DO ALL THINGS WITH MODERATION
“Let your moderation be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.” – Philippians 4:5
*Comment:* Moderation has to do with being discreet or sensible, restraint, circumspect, gentle, or temperate in all things. That is, in our utterances and conduct. A Christian indeed is instructed here not to be rash or excessive. Rather to be calm and be reflective. He/she should not recompense evil for evil but good for evil (Romans 12:17-21). He/she should be modest in dressing (1 Timothy 2:9). Not be excessive in drinking, and revellings – Eph.5:15-18; Gal.5:19-21.
Said St. Paul, “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love. Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” – Eph.4:1-3; see also 1 Peter 2:11,12.
Surely, those who do things with moderation shall experience the goodness of God in their lives.
*Prayer:* The Most High God in heaven. Help us always to do or say things with moderation for You our LORD to be at hand for our good in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
