PERSEVERANCE IN GOD’S SERVICE!
“For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” – Hebrews 10:36
*Comment:* Perseverance is that continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. You never give up. You never say die or it is finished until your goal or success is achieved. The word Patience is sometimes used in the Holy Bible for Perseverance. Endurance, determination and courage are vital qualities for perseverance.
In the worship of God, Perseverance is required and without the help of God no one can withstand troubles and difficult situations.(Psalm 86:6-7,11)
The ultimate goal of every true Christian is to have life abundantly. As exemplified by Jesus Christ, despite facing persecution and death, Jesus persevered, saying, “My meat is to do the will of Him that sent me…” (John 4:34). Before dying, He declared, “It is finished” (John 19:30), demonstrating His unwavering commitment to fulfilling God’s will.
Today, “God has highly exalted him that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God.” – Philippians 2:8-11
So, Perseverance is required to achieve success in the service of God. St. Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ is another example.(2 Corinthians 4:8-10; see also 2 Corinthians 11:21-33). Writing to Timothy on how he persevered till the end, he stated, “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions,…I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” – 2 Timothy 4:5-8
From the foregoing, those who persevere in serving God till the end will have life. – Matthew 24:12,13; etc.
*Prayer:* Our Father in heaven. We seek Your help to persevere in Thy service so as to obtain blessings and Salvation in the end through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
