THE STRENGTH OF ISRAEL!
“And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.” -1 Samuel 15:29
*Comment:* Those who faithfully contend with the Lord, Jesus Christ, and prevail are called Israel. A true Israelite is one who demonstrates faith in Jesus Christ, just like Abraham did (Galatians 3:6-9, 26, 28; 6:12-16).
Strength is the quality of being strong in the Lord both in the body or in the spirit of our mind. God Almighty is the originator of strength or power. Nobody can be compared to him. That’s why He is called the Almighty God or the God of gods and the Lord of lords. – Genesis 17:1; Deut.10:17; Psalm 95:3; Isaiah 45:5-7; Isaiah 46:5;etc.
God Almighty is the Strength of Israel. He sent Moses to Egypt to deliver the children of Israel from bondage. In God’s name Moses did great wonders in Egypt and declared God as his Strength (Exodus 15:2). It is God that gives strength to His people. Balaam told Balak who wanted him to curse Israel that “God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.” – Numbers 24:8; 23:22
As long as we know God and worship Him in Spirit and in truth, in righteousness He will show Himself strong on our behalf and deliver us. – 2 Chronicles 16:9; Psalm 34:7-8; read also Malachi 4:2-3.
Today, God has given Jesus Christ all powers. He is the strength of Israel. Of him, Joel the Prophet wrote, “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.” – Joel 2:32; Matthew 28:18; Revelation 1:18
As St. Paul put it we are to look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” – Hebrews 12:2.
*Prayer:* O God Almighty our Father in heaven. We thank Thee for making us true converts of Jesus Christ, the strength of Israel. Help us to continually look to him in faith, hope and charity for our salvation at the end through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
