GOD IS PERFECT, SO BE PERFECT!
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
*Comment:* Perfection in the sight of God is an important key to invoke His favor, blessings and Salvation at the end. A perfect person does not offend God and man in words and deeds (James 3:2). God told Abraham His friend, “…..I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.”(Genesis 17:1). To walk before God is to do or say things in accordance with His will and purpose. To be perfect means to do or say things about God without blemish, errors, mistakes and/or sin.
Abraham indeed walked before God perfectly and became the friend of God. Every single commandment of God he received was carried out without murmuring or complaint. – James 2:21-23.
Since we were all shapened in iniquity and born in sin (Psalm 51:5), it is not therefore, within our power to become perfect, except God helps us. The Psalmist wrote, “It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. – Psalm 18:32; see also Hebrews 13:20-21.
Perfection is obtained through hearing God’s word or truth preached by His ordained servants. (Ephesians 4:7-13) That is why we must grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Said St. Paul, “…we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus” – Colossians 1:28; see also 1 Cor.13:10: 2 Timothy 3:16,17;etc.
Love, faith, holiness and patience are vital virtues required to be perfect with God. – 2 Cor.7:1; Colossians 3:14; James 1:4; etc.
The call therefore is for all true worshippers to walk perfectly with God. Jesus Christ stated, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48). For this cause the Psalmist wrote, “I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.” – Psalm 101:2; Hebrews 6:1.
Blessings await all who walk perfectly with God. – Psalm 119:1; Proverbs 2:21; etc.
*Prayer:* Our God and Father in heaven, make us perfect as we walk with You like Abraham the father of the faithful. We shall be blessed by Your grace through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
