SCORNERS AS SEEN THROUGH THE HOLY BIBLE!

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” – Psalm 1:1

*Comment:* A Scorner is a person who express contempt or disdain for someone or something. An arrogant and opinionated person who resents correction, despises authority, or shows contempt for those trying to teach or warn him. A scorner is worse than a fool, since haughty defiance is worse than stubborn ignorance (Proverbs 26:12). A man who disrespects teachers, scoffs at instruction, or mocks rulers is a scorner.

Scripturally, a Scorner is one who has no regard for God and His word, the Truth and righteousness. Concerning scorners King Solomon stated, “Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. (Proverbs 9:8). A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth. (Proverbs 14:6). A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.” – Proverbs 15:12

Then, he lamented, “How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate Knowledge?(Proverbs 1:22; read also Proverbs 19:25,28-29). So, “Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease” – Proverbs 22:10; see also Proverbs 21:11,24; Proverbs 24:9; etc

Isaiah the Prophet wrote, “For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off.” (Isaiah 29:20). King Solomon concluded it, “Surely He(God) scorneth the scorners: but He giveth grace unto the lowly.” – Proverbs 3:34. *Beware of Scorners.*

*Prayer:* Our Great God and Father who art in heaven. We praise and exalt Thine Holy Name now and for evermore. Let us avoid Scorners of Thee and Thy words of truth and righteousness but be lowly so as to receive Thy graces, even of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
