IT’S BETTER TO OBEY THAN TO SACRIFICE
“And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” -1 Samuel 15:22
Comment: The first king of Israel was Saul. When he was made king, he was modest, but he became power-hungry and began disobeying God. Instead of obeying God’s Word, he opted to sacrifice rams to Him. He lost favor with God as a result of his disobedience, and David was selected in his place. God’s aim for His children is for them to love living in accordance to His Word (Deuteronomy 28:1–14).
One of the many ways to worship and glorify God is through obedience. Living in obedience to God in all things is a great way to show your love and respect for Him(fear of God). Obedience is also a suitable way to draw near to God and grow relationships with Him. In fact, obedience is an integral part of a Christian’s relationship with God and Christ. – Joshua 1:7,8; Romans 3 & 8.
Prayer: Our Most High God Jehovah, thank You for guarding me to choose obedience over sacrifice. I promise to put it into practice in my life so that I can have a good relationship with Thee, be qualified to carry out all Your assignments, and be blessed through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
