    IMPORTANCE OF THE TRUTH

“Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.” – Proverbs 23:23

Comment: Jesus Christ defined the Truth as the Word of God. (John 17:17). The prime name of Jesus Christ is “Logos” in (Greek) or Word in (English). – John 1:1.

The word of God comprises of doctrines, divine instructions, divine promises and judgement which according to King David are “more to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.” – Psalm 19:10,11.

The importance of the Truth lies in the fact that:

    1. It is a priceless treasure to possess. Losing it is catastrophic. The Psalmist wrote, “The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Therefore, I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. – Psalm 119:72,105,127,162; see Psalm 19:7-9; Proverbs 6:23

    2. Those who praise or worship and trust God always in the truth receive from God peace forever. Isaiah the prophet stated, “Open ye the gates (of praise), that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength” – Isaiah 26:2-4.

    3. The advent of Jesus Christ brought grace and truth to the world in fulfillment of the prophecy that ” The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”( Luke 4:17-21). He told the woman at Samaria that the true worshippers of God will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Also, he stated that everyone who show faith and continue in the truth will be freed from sin. (John 4:23,24; 8:3132). And the disciples believed that Jesus Christ has the words of eternal life. – John 6:66-68.

Prayer: Our Father in heaven, Your word or truth is able to make one wise unto Salvation, help to understand the importance of the truth and do it for our good through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
