“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
Comment: To wait upon the Lord means to worship or serve The LORD with great hope, confidence and/or expectations. Great hope comes from the fact that anyone who serves God in Spirit and in truth shall be blessed abundantly by God.
Receiving God’s blessings encourages one to do more in the serve of God and the more you practice truth and righteousness, the blessings multiply according to God’s riches in glory. – Matthew 6:33; Luke 18:29,30; 2Cor.9:6; Phil.4:19.
Sin and rebellion are obstacles to receiving God’s blessings. Jesus Christ stated, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. (Matthew 24:12,13). Thus, when our expectations are delayed, we should repent of our sins and pray to God while we courageously wait upon Him in faith and happiness. His time is always the best. Said the Psalmist, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. – Psalm 27:13,14; see also Psalm 49:1; 62:5-8.
There are benefits for waiting upon God
1. All they that wait for God shall receive blessings. – Isaiah 30:18
2. God gives power to the weak and renews the strength of the young who wait on Him so that they will never be tired. – Isaiah 40:28-31.
3. Their heart shall be stablished and they will receive the early and latter rain. – James 5:7,8
4. They shall be exalted to inherit the earth. – Psalm 37:7-9, 34.
Prayer: God our Father in heaven, be Thou our help to always wait upon Thee for blessings manifold more now and forever through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
