The Kingdom of God is the perfect government of the Almighty God which He, through the mouth of His Holy Prophets of old, promised to set up in the last days or at this time of the end of the present evil world. It is an everlasting government covering both heaven and earth in which righteousness and peace will dwell.
God’s Kingdom is of great importance, and the teachings of Jesus Christ centered upon it. He began his ministry by warning the people to repent of their sins in that the kingdom of God was near. He then taught his disciples to pray for it to come so that the will of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:33; see also chapters 4:17; 6:9,10; etc
God has appointed Jesus Christ to be the head and king of His kingdom. Concerning Him, it is written: “Behold, a King shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgement.” (Isaiah 32:1; see also chapter 9:6,7; John 18:36,37; etc) The capital of the kingdom is Mount Zion in heaven. And in prophesy, God said: “Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.” –Psalm 2:6.
With Jesus Christ in Mount Zion in heaven will be the anointed Christians, the saints, numbering 144,000 chosen from among men, beginning from the twelve apostles. These are the first class of Christians known as “the Church of the Firstborn.” And Jesus addressed them as the “Little Flock.” Everyone of them like Jesus Himself is a king and priest, and they will reign with him (Christ) in His Kingdom. The holy angels in heaven will serve him and the saints. – Luke 12:32; 22: 28-30; Hebrews 2:22,23;etc.
The Kingdom will also be fully established on earth where the will of God will be done as it is in heaven in answer to our Lord’s Prayer. (Matt. 6: 10) None of the holy men and women of old before Christ, from righteous Abel to John the Baptist, will go to heaven. These ancient worthies will be raised to life on resurrection day to receive their reward, and they will be great rulers in God’s Kingdom on earth. Similarly, other faithful Christians who are not of the Little Flock and who have died will be resurrected to inherit the kingdom on earth.- Job 19:25,26; Matt. 5:5; 8: 11,12; 11:11; Luke 14:14; Hebrews 11:35,39,40;etc.
Many of the faithful Christians who are not anointed and who are the “other sheep” of Christ in this last day will not die but will pass through the great tribulation and the Battle of the Great Day of God Almighty, and enter the new world which is the world without End. –John 10:16; 8:51; Daniel 12:1; Revelation 7:9,13-15.
The great tribulation is the trouble far more terrible than any there has ever been from the beginning of the world to that time. It is the time of vengeance when he wicked will be severely punished for their sins: “There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” Then the Battle of Armageddon known as the Battle of the Great Day of God Almighty will be fought and the army of God led by Jesus Christ will destroy the devil and all his followers from the surface of the earth. – Daniel 12:1; Matthew 24:21; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Revelation 16:13-15; 20:1-3.
The Bible plainly shows that after the Battle of Armageddon Jesus Christ shall reign for one thousand years. (Revelation 20:4,6) During this period there shall be a general resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust. The just shall be rewarded with everlasting life in perfect peace and happiness but the unjust shall be judged and punished according to their sins. (Daniel 12:1-3; Luke 14:14; John 5:28, 29; Acts 24:15; Hebrews 9:27) Each of the unjust shall be given one hundred years of punishment. Whoever is obedient will at the end of the hundred years be given everlasting life but the disobedient ones will die the “second death” in which there will be no more resurrection. – Isaiah 65:20; Revelation 20:6, 13- 15.
God has long promised to make a new world. He said, “For Behold, I create a new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered nor come into mind.” (Isaiah 65:17) It is during the one thousand year reign of Christ known as the Millennium; the earth shall be rebuilt and made new, to be a paradise like the beautiful Garden of Eden. (Isaiah 60:13; Ezekiel 36:33-35) The heavens have since been made new after Satan the devil and his angels had been cast down to the earth as a result of the war in heaven. – Revelation 12:6-12.
After the one thousand years, Satan the devil and his wicked followers, including angels and men, will be brought back from the dead to see the glorious work of Christ, the earth made paradise. This is to make them see the futility and failure of Satan’s rebellion and boast to turn all men and the whole world against God. What a shame! The devil will not repent or will his followers cease from evil. He will still attempt to deceive the nations once again but God in His anger symbolized by “fire” shall consume him and all his followers completely from the world forever. – Revelation 20:7-9; Hebrews 12:29.
When the heavens and the earth have been completely made new and God’s Kingdom is fully established, Christ shall handover the kingdom to Jehovah, the Almighty Father, and He shall be all in all. (1 Corinthians 15:24-28) Then in the New Heavens and New Earth there shall be no evil of any kind-no more death, neither sorrow nor pain but peace and happiness forever and ever. – Isaiah 33:24; 65:17-25; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1-7. God’s Kingdom, therefore, is the only hope of the world.
