“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed”. 1 Peter 2:24
Comment: Everyone wants blessings from God Almighty but the irony is that not everyone want to live in righteousness. Christianity is a call to righteousness. You have to work out your salvation with Godly reverence. (Phil. 2:12). For the blessings of God to abound in our life we need to live a righteous life.
The proof of our love to God is in keeping His commandments.
In John 14:15, Jesus Christ said ” if you love me, keep my commandments”. We do not need to practice our own righteousness but that of God. All we need to do in order to please Him is to live in His word and walk in love, then you will see God’s blessings manifest in your life in a way that will amaze you.
The instance of Job is a glaring example. Despite all the challenges he faced in life, he did not sin against God nor charged God foolishly. His end was blessed. Job 42: 12-17.
You can live above sin because you have been called into liberty to live righteously. In Rom. 6:14, St. Paul says, “for sin shall have no dominion over you” Let us therefore live righteously, for the Lord Jesus has given us victory over sin.
Prayer: O God our Father in heaven, thank You for the gift of righteousness You bestowed upon me. Hide Your words in my heart that I might not sin. I refuse to be under the influence of sin, help me to live in righteousness through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
