HOLDING FAITH! A CALL TO FAITHFULNESS!

“Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck” – 1 Timothy 1:19

*Comment:* Holding Faith is to continue in the belief or confidence or hope in God Almighty and His Word or Truth personified by Jesus Christ despite opposition and persecution of the devil. Jesus Christ, the Word of God that brought grace and Truth into this world (John 1:17) suffered all forms of opposition, afflictions and persecutions and was steadfast to the end. (1Peter 2:21-25). Today, he is ruling in the midst of his enemies as his reward. All knees bow to him to the glory of God. – Psalm 110:2; Philippians 2:5-10

St. Paul was an Apostle of Jesus Christ and throughout his gospel expenditure he met with stiff opposition from many unbelievers such as Hymenaeus and Alexander but held faith till the end. He stated, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” – 2 Timothy 4:7-8; see also 2 Timothy 3:8-12

To Timothy he wrote, “This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.” – 1 Timothy 1:18-20.

Whatever you may be passing through, afflictions, persecutions and so on continue holding faith till the end and you will be blessed. Revelation 2:10. It is a call to faithfulness.

*Prayer:* Our Father in heaven. Help us your children to remain faithful till the end despite the persecutions, afflictions and opposition of the devil and his agents through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
