THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PRAYER!
“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” – Mark 11:24
*Comment:* Prayer has the power to produce required results. What is needed is implicit faith in God and His word. Then steadfastness in the practise of righteousness.
Elijah, the Prophet of God made idol worshippers in ancient times to realise that their belief in “baal” as God is fake. The prophets of baal prayed from morning till evening without answer but when Elijah prayed to God Almighty, thus: “Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.” – 1 Kings 18:37-39; see also 1 Kings 17:19-24; Jonah 2:1-10.
Jesus Christ during his first advent on earth raised Lazarus who was dead and buried for four days in the grave back to life through prayer to God Almighty his Father. “Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed in him.” – John 11:41-45.
Jesus Christ cursed the fig tree and it withered away by the next morning and Peter observed it. Then he (Christ) said to his disciples, “…Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” – Mark 11:22-24.
*Prayer:* Our Father in heaven. There is no other God beside Thee that we know. Father, help us to pray with faith for effective answers through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
